All specialized disciplines seem to have problems of communal organization: information exchange, group interaction, etc. Certain philosophers of science appear to be trying to cope with the uniqueness of some historical figures in relation to their own (i. e. the philosopher's) idealized picture of scientific 'continuity' or 'community'.
