Our problems of translation, paradigm-shifts, going-on etc., are different in that our 'solutions' need not be keyed up to their solutions. They are different because our methodology/heuristics need not be keyed to their methodology. When you don't have to get overly concerned with pragmatics, semantics, etc., these can be approached fairly confidently. When pragmatics etc., are in toto problematic, there are very few 'discussion stoppers'.
